Trankarri – excerpt There was no television, no radio, no cars, no hustle and bustle of a noisy town.
When writing adventure or fantasy for children it is good idea to take them out of their normal environment and put them someplace new and different. This should happen early on in the story after the foundation has been laid and your characters are firmly established in the real world. Think The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Harry Potter. In both cases the stories firmly cement the characters in this world which makes Narnia and Hogwarts more fantastical. To break away from reality and go on an adventure in another land – how awesome.
If you are going to go this route then leave no stone unturned in your new land. Fully imagine what it is like long before you put your characters there.
