#writeyourstory (assonance – literary devise)

A trick in great lit is to get things to tick, bit by bit until all things fit in a close knit, which gives it a good kick. #writeyourstory.

This is a small example of the literary devise, assonance where the internal vowel sound is the same – trick, in, lit, tick, bit, bit, fit, knit, gives, it, kick. These are fun to write and they change the pace for the reader and make sentence structure so much more appealing and in some ways you can amplify what you are saying without the use of long drawn out paragraphs.

Simply write a sentence using the literary devise, assonance and get things to pop. And another benefit is that they are memorable. Many rap and r and b songs will use this devise in their lyrics. That is why rap is fun to sing along to. You just don’t find this devise being used in novels these days. So in the spirit of Justin Timberlake – I’m bringing assonance back…hey…
